Mapping Windows to Unix Usernames with Samba.

The file /etc/samba/smbusers is used to map Microsoft Windows Usernames to Unix user accounts as follows:

unixuser = winuser

Note

Both the Unix account name and the Microsoft Windows usernames are entered in lowercase in this file.
